Finding A Balance Between Traditional and Unique

Finding A Balance Between Traditional and Unique

Everyone wants their wedding to be a unique, one of a kind, memorable event; however, they don’t want it to be so out of the box that they look back in horror.  This should be a day all about the happy couple and reflect both of their styles and desires for the day. This is an event that will be marked in your family history forever! Finding a balance between making it unique and keeping it traditional can seem challenging.

There are many wedding traditions out there to choose from if the candle or sand ceremony is something traditional you like but you want to make it a little different try mixing soil together in a beautiful pot with a tree that can grow in it forever. If you are having an outdoor wedding you could plant the tree directly in the ground mixing your soil together on top; then you can come back to that spot every year on your anniversary and watch the tree grow along with your love for each other.

Flowers are a must at weddings but many people these days are opting to make flowers out of tissue paper or sustainable items such as wood, antique jewelry and shells to create a unique bouquet or boutonniere that will last a lifetime.

Guest Books have changed over the years gone are the days of the plain book with signatures; today's weddings usually include some form of one of a kind guest books.  From Polaroids to fingerprints and paintings. Guest Books can really reflect the couple's personality and theme.  Check out our Pinterest page for tons of ideas.

You may want to keep your wedding dress traditional but you also want to make it your own.  Try sewing hidden things inside your dress or monogram the inside with your new initials. For a pop of color without being too over the top try a colored petty coat under your dress or dip dying just the bottom in a subtle transition from white to your color of choice.

Photographs are another great way to express your unique style and personality. If you are spontaneous try a trash the dress photo shoot in the pool or ocean. Another fun trash the dress idea is a color war with colored powder; the photo looks so fun! If that is totally not your style try doing something else like a photo booth with props or recreate your favorite romantic movie scene.

Food at weddings is challenging especially if you are not having a sit-down dinner.  Theme setups are the newest thing for wedding food. Popcorn bars, Candy bars, Pasta and waffles stations with tons of toppings these are just a few ideas for wedding food that doesn’t require much service and also gives the guest an opportunity to feel like they are really included in the experience.

Having a traditional wedding no longer has to mean that you cannot incorporate fun and your personality to the day.  As long as you don’t go over the top you will have great photos to cherish and a day that all your friends and family will remember forever.
