Day or Night Wedding? The difference could cost you double.

A daytime wedding can cost significantly less than an evening.  They both have their pros and cons, read on for some of my insights.

A venue price for a daytime wedding will usually cost you 1/2 to 1/3 off the evening price.  Although you will have to rise and shine early in the morning to get ready and set up,  you will also have all day and night to spend with your friends and family or all night away with your new spouse.  A morning or early afternoon event will require less food and less alcohol. Most people will want something more than cake to eat but that something can be significantly less than a sit-down dinner.  A brunch or lunch buffet should be all you need to satisfy your guests.  Instead of a full bar, you can have a mimosa bar, sangria and/or just juices and that could save you a lot.  Bridesmaid dresses can be less formal for a day event and so can thier shoes.  Grooms also can be less formal and for go wearing a suit jacket and just rolled up sleeves and suspenders or barefoot and untucked.  

On the flip side of this, an evening wedding should be more formal.  You will need to provide your guests with either a sit-down dinner or buffet for an evening reception and most people will expect a bar of some kind.  Your dress, as well as your bridesmaid dresses, should not be casual; this is the time to be over the top and shine. Evening weddings are wonderful to dance the night away after your ceremony and reception as guests are usually in a mood to celebrate with you. Make sure you have a great band or DJ!  Your venue will need to be booked well in advance, usually 1 year to 6 months in advance, as evening weekend weddings are the most popular and will be booked the quickest.  

These are just a few things to keep in mind when planning your wedding. As I always say its your day and you want to remember it forever for the right reasons not the wrong; so choose wisely and make the most of what you have.  No matter what you choose it is up to you to make the most of what you have and create a gorgeous day!
